Sounding Sharp Studio Policy

Students & Parents: Responsibilities & Expectations

Students should practice 5-6 days per week for an amount of time deemed appropriate by the instructor.

Every student must have access to an instrument for daily practice. Ideally, piano students will have an acoustic piano or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys. String instruments should be appropriately sized for the student.

Parents should assist students when necessary and help ensure that children are practicing.

In addition to lesson fees, plan to spend up to $30 per semester on materials for each student.

Scheduling & Cancelations

We come to you! Please be home and ready for lessons upon teacher arrival. Each lesson will last approximately 30 minutes.

Each student is allowed one reschedule per semester, pending availability. Teachers are also allowed one reschedule per semester. In the event that multiple reschedules are requested by the teacher, students will be given the option for a refund or a reschedule.

In order for a lesson to be rescheduled, the instructor must be given advance notice that a lesson will be missed. Beyond the one allotted reschedule, tuition is not refunded or credited for missed or canceled lessons.

If any member of your household has been sick within 24 hours, we ask that you contact your teacher and request a digital lesson.

Lesson Termination: Four weeks’ notice is required if the student plans to withdraw from lessons.

Performance Opportunities

There will be one recital each semester. While the recital is not required, it's a great way for your child to demonstrate what they've learned in a fun environment. Additionally, recitals have a way of reinvigorating their love of lessons!

We also encourage students to perform in their schools, churches and regularly for friends and family. On occasion, we provide opportunities for students to compete or perform outside of lessons. All performances are open to all students.

We offer two payment options: up-front session payment or monthly payments.

Payments may be made via check, bank transfer or Venmo. Late payments may be assessed a late fee of $20.
