Elaina

Violin, Viola & Piano

Elaina grew up in Ames, Iowa and attended the Gilbert school district. She first started violin lessons with Pnina Luban at 4 years old, and has been playing ever since. Elaina was taught by Julie Fox Henson and Mahlon Darlington until she graduated high school and began school at Iowa State University. Elaina is a lover of all types of music, she was very involved in choir and band throughout her college career. At Iowa State, she was under the instruction of Borivoj Martinić-Jerčić for violin and viola studies. Elaina was also a member of the Iowa State University Varsity Marching Band! After graduating from Iowa State University with a major in Biology and a minor in music performance, she moved to Des Moines to begin her career in the medical field. She is currently a student at Mercy College of Health Sciences for diagnostic medical cardiac sonography.

Elaina now plays around the state of Iowa in different ensembles and solo work, including subbing for the Des Moines Symphony, Fort Dodge Symphony, and the Des Moines Gamer Orchestra. She teaches violin, viola, and piano lessons to young students who want to develop a strong musical foundation that they can carry with them for the rest of their life, and have fun while doing it!

When not teaching or studying or playing her instruments, you can find Elaina outside on her bike or on a run! She also loves any kind of art or craft she can get her hands on!
